Buyer, Ross Dress for Less

Ross Dress for Less is a Fortune 500 company with $19 Billion in revenue. We have 2,000 stores, 3 buying offices, 7 warehouses, and 100,000 employees.

I went to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and graduated with a degree in Marketing. During my high school and college years is worked in the mall at a Nine West shoe store.

I moved from California to New York after being recruited to work at Nine West corporate office. I worked there as an assistant buyer for 5 years.

I started at Ross Dress for Less 12 years ago as an assistant buyer and was promoted to a buyer after 2 years. I currently buy women’s dresses from department store brands like Calvin Klein, DKNY, Anne Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger to name a few. I manage a $100 Million department with 2 assistants reporting to me. I have previously worked in other departments such as handbags and women’s clothing. There are hundreds of buyers at Ross and we all work to find great deals for our customers. We travel the world to work with brands to design new product. Our customer shops our store multiple times a month. We get new shipments daily and we want to sell goods quickly so next time you come in, you see something new. We use the “treasure hunt” experience as our merchandising strategy. The store isn’t overstocked with inventory, we want you to feel like if you don’t buy this deal today, it will be gone tomorrow. My favorite part of my job is the fast paced environment. We value curiosity, discipline, detail orientation, time management, prioritization, collaboration, and a drive for results.
