Sarah Sutter
Sergeant, San Diego Police Department
Sergeant Sarah Sutter was born and raised in Ohio. She knew she wanted to be a police officer in fourth grade. Sarah obtained a degree in Criminal Justice and a degree in Psychology while playing collegiate soccer and softball at Defiance College (Ohio). During college, she worked at a juvenile correctional facility, and upon graduation, was employed as a Mental Health Case Manager.
Sergeant Sutter joined the San Diego Police Department in 2008. As an officer, she worked numerous assignments including patrol, beach team, bike team, and crime suppression team. Sarah was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in December of 2020. As a Sergeant, she has worked patrol and investigations. She’s currently assigned to Western Division working in a patrol capacity. In her 15 years with the San Diego Police Department, she’s worked all over the city in six of the nine patrol divisions. Having this broad and varied experience has allowed her to grow as a person and officer as she has been exposed to many different communities within the City of San Diego.
Outside of work Sarah loves traveling, hiking, playing guitar, sports, working out, spending time with friends, and going on adventures with her dog, Denver.
