Miriam Foxx

Captain, Chula Vista Police Department Investigation Division

Captain Miriam Foxx is a 25-year veteran of the Chula Vista Police Department. She was the second of four children born in Queens, New York. In 1990, after graduating high school, she enlisted in the United States Navy. She left active duty and joined the Navy Reserves when she was hired by the Chula Vista Police Department as a police recruit in 1998. In 2012, Captain Foxx retired from the Navy as a Commissioned Naval Officer with 22 years of combined Active and Reserve service.

Captain Foxx rose through the ranks of a police officer, agent/detective, sergeant, and lieutenant, working various patrol, investigative, and administrative assignments throughout the department. She was promoted to Captain in April 2022, where she was the Support Operations Division commander over the Professional Standards Unit, Chula Vista City Jail, Police Technology Unit, Dispatch Center, and the Drone as First Responder (DFR) program. 

Currently, she is the Captain of the Investigations Division, which includes the Special Operations and Criminal Investigations Divisions, the Forensic Services Division, and the Drone as First Responder (DFR) program. She is an FAA Part 107 Certified Drone Pilot.

Captain Foxx attended the University of Phoenix, completing a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2005. She is a graduate of California POST Command College (Class 65). Lastly, she is an Adjunct Faculty member at Azusa Pacific University. Captain Foxx is constantly trying to improve and learn as she challenges herself. Her goal is to be promoted to Assistant Chief or Chief of Police.
