Kaitlyn (Gomez) Garrett ‘12
Youth Services Librarian , City of San Diego Public Library
Kaitlyn (Gomez) Garrett is a Youth Services Librarian for the Logan Heights Library within the San Diego Public Library system. Graduating from Our Lady of Peace in 2012, she attended Southwestern College and transferred with an Associates Degree in Literature Writing to the University of California San Diego, graduating in 2017 with honors, earning a degree in Literature Writing. She went on to receive her Masters in Library Information Science in 2019 from San Jose State University. The entire time while in school she began to wonder what her greatest passions in life were, and found that serving her community is what brought her joy. This led her to volunteer with the Chula Vista Library while attending community college and resulted in her sourcing a job opportunity at that branch. Eventually her position led her to her current role as a Youth Services Librarian for the City of San Diego. She found that libraries afforded her the perfect balance of being able to support her community in an impactful way, and create a more inclusive, welcoming place for adults, families, teens, and kids.
