Judi Putnam '66
Volunteer Prison Minister, Catholic Diocese of San Diego
I graduated in 1966 from OLP having started in 7th grade, As an Episcopalian, it was a real experience - meeting my 1st Sister (in a habit, no less,) I am currently on the Alumnae board.
I taught piano at the Academy in the mid-70's and helped with the choir program. I have taught pre-school, aided in elementary school, aided in Community college for the learning disabilities program. I was at the USCD Department of Orthopedics for 20 years. (Sure glad I took 4 years of Latin at OLP).
As I was preparing for retirement, I discovered the best job I have ever had - working as a volunteer prison minister. The inmates are miles from home and family, which means the volunteers become their family. All of the inmates I interact with (of all religions) show great respect. They have prayed me through broken shoulders, a cardiac arrest, and the loss of my child. The charisms of the Sisters and OLP are truly part of my life.
