Dr. Eileen D. Heveron ‘73

Executive Director, Pawsitive Teams

Dr. Heveron received her BS in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine and began working at a local university (instead of applying to med school as she had planned!). She earned her Master of Arts in Management from the University of Redlands and her Ph.D. in Higher Education from the Claremont Graduate University, all while working full time. During her career, she held a variety of positions that included leadership in administration, academics, student affairs, fundraising, and information technology. After a career spanning over 40 years, Eileen retired in January 2018 or so she thought!

All along, Eileen had also been involved with dogs, including obedience, freestyle, and training and particularly loved the therapy dog volunteer work which she did for over 23 years every other weekend at libraries, hospitals, and assisted living centers. She joined Pawsitive Teams almost 18 years ago as an instructor in its Therapy Dog Prep School. Fast forward and in 2020, Eileen and her diabetic alert service dog, Dexter, literally jumped at the chance to take a leadership role at Pawsitive Teams as its Executive Director. Seems retirement will need to “sit-stay” a little longer!
