Christine La Marca

CPA, Supervisor at The Kevane Company & President of the California Rental & Housing Association

Christine La Marca is the Managing Director of her family’s private real estate portfolio. She is the oldest of six daughters, a San Diego native, and earned her BS in Accounting from SDSU.

Upon graduation, Christine worked as an accounting analyst for ARCO in Los Angeles and experienced “big oil” from transportation, to refining, to distribution.  After ARCO, she applied her experience from a college internship with the State Board of Equalization, to design and implement national best practice Sales & Use Tax reporting procedures for Canon Printers.  She then transitioned into public accounting with Grice, Lund & Tarkington, a mid-sized San Diego firm, where she started the firm’s Elder Care Division while earning her Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license.

After obtaining her CPA credentials, Genica Corporation, an international internet-based wholesale and retail distribution company, hired Christine as an Accounting Analyst. She was quickly promoted to Corporate Controller where she oversaw the year 2000 conversion and automation of many of the company’s various antiquated accounting and distribution systems.

In 2002, Christine joined her family business where she continues to enjoy the challenges of working in a small business in a field that requires constant vigilance. Education and civic involvement are critical to Christine who stays actively involved in industry and community groups to monitor emerging trends and adjust business practices accordingly.

In 2016, she served on San Diego Mayor Faulconer’s Housing Our Heroes Task Force. In 2018, Christine was honored to be the President of the Southern California Rental Housing Association (SCRHA) where she has been actively involved, since 2008.  She is the Immediate Past President of the California Rental Housing Association representing nearly 25,000 members who collectively own over 676,000 rental housing units in California.

Christine and her husband Steve reside in El Cajon. Their twin daughters, Francesca and Cameron graduated from the Academy of Our Lady of Peace High School in 2022 and are now attending Texas Christian University and Southern Methodist University.
