Christina Ralph

Commander, San Diego Police Department Detention Services Bureau

Commander Christina Ralph joined the San Diego County Sheriff's Department in 1994. She attended the 28th Regional Law Enforcement Academy and her first assignment was the Central Detention Facility. She later moved on to patrol at the San Marcos Station.

After her patrol assignment, Christina transferred to the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) unit, where she focused on information/intelligence led policing to thwart crime in her area of responsibility. After four years in that position, she transferred to the Department's Family Protection Unit and investigated domestic violence and child abuse cases.

In 2007, she was promoted to sergeant. Over the next 5 years she worked several assignments to include the El Cajon Courthouse, Poway Patrol, Ramona Patrol and Administration, and the Backgrounds and Recruiting Unit.

In 2012, Christina was promoted to lieutenant and was assigned to Personnel, then to the San Marcos Patrol Station. Christina was later transferred to SID where she supervised several task force units. There she assisted in the creation of the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force. Her final assignment as a lieutenant was in Internal Affairs.

In 2018, she was promoted to Captain and was assigned to the oversee the Personnel Division. She later was selected to oversee the Santee Station. In this position, she was responsible for law enforcement services in the City of Santee, as well as Lakeside and Alpine.

In 2022, Christina was promoted to Commander and is currently assigned to the Detention Services Bureau. She is responsible for supervision of all the detention facilities.

As a collateral duty, Christina spent 18 years working on and supervising the Department's Crisis Negotiations Team.

Commander Ralph holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of San Diego in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from National University. She is also a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University. She lives with her family in East County.
