Alma Lowry ‘92
Captain, City of San Diego Fire Rescue Department
Born and raised in San Diego. Attended St. Therese Academy and then Academy of Our Lady of Peace, graduating in 1992. Went to San Francisco State University after being recruited for swimming, ended up doing both Swimming and Track and Field. Graduated SFSU in 1997 with a Bachelors in Exercise Physiology. Started working for the City of San Diego in 1992 as a pool Lifeguard, eventually ended up going on to work as a Lifeguard at the beach, mostly in the Mission Beach area where all the action was. In December of 2000 was hired by San Diego Fire-Rescue as a Fire Recruit. I recently just hit my 30 years of service with the City of San Diego. In 2009 I decided to obtain my Master's degree in Emergency Services Administration from Cal State Long Beach. I wanted to make myself more competitive in the promotional process. I have been married since 2006 to my husband Brent, who is a CHP Sergeant, and we have 3 boys ages 7, 9 and 11. They currently attend Nazareth School and have hopes to attend Saint Augustine after 8th grade graduation.
