Alexis Hernandez is a dedicated educator, singer, and writer based in San Diego. A proud graduate of San Diego State University (SDSU), she is passionate about shaping young minds and instilling a love of learning in her students. An accomplished poet, Alexis has received international recognition for her work, which has been featured in various literary magazines and avant-garde zines. Her poetry delves into themes of identity, culture, and the human experience, offering readers an opportunity to connect with her distinctive voice. One of her standout achievements is her one-act play, "105 Miles from Home," which premiered in 2023 at SDSU and was showcased at the San Diego International Fringe Festival, where it won the Social Awareness Award. The play, inspired by her grandparents' immigration story, sheds light on the resilience of those seeking a better life. In addition to her literary pursuits, Alexis has showcased her singing talents at numerous sporting events in San Diego, performing for local teams like the SD Wave, SD Legion, the Loyal, as well as community events. Through her artistic endeavors, Alexis aims to inspire others and spark meaningful conversations that foster understanding and empathy, highlighting the transformative power of art in education and community engagement.
